Literacy involves reading, writing, and thinking. Learning new words (vocabulary) plays a significant role in each of those areas.

I also did an advanced search on Big Universe Learning for the term vocabulary, and found lots of books that deal with word families and  letter sounds, which are the building blocks of vocabulary words.
