Successful Professional Development For Educators

Just like doctors and other professions, educators benefit from participating in high quality professional development every year. In order to be effective, professional development should encompass the following components. Professional development should be:


The pedagogy and content should be relevant to the professionals in the room.


In order to be effective, the session should start and end on time. People should respect each other's time and ideas. The room should be a comfortable temperature, clean and organized.


Multiple learning styles should be addressed in the presentation. The instructor or facilitator should utilize multiple methods for engagement. Teachers are learners, too. Just like children and teens, adults have diverse learning styles.


Educators should be able to implement the new learnings and findings from the workshop or inservice, right away or as soon as possible. They should be able to use the information presented. It should be beneficial.
