Happy Embrace your Geekness Day!  The word “geek” can mean different things to different people.  Essentially,  if you have a passion for one thing, you are a geek.  To some it may be technology, to others it may be a specific subject or game.  However, to me it means .. Great Educators Engaging Kids.  Yes, for me that is my passion: educating and engaging students. I am a geek!

How do we engage students?

First, build relationships. Students won’t always remember what you taught, but how you treated them. Yes, your content is important.  Don’t get me wrong, do everything you can. Plan, teach, and reflect.  Those are all keys to great educators. But remember without the students we don’t have jobs.

Next, discover proven strategies that engage learners.  Not all ideas will work for you. Try them and record your results.  Technology is just one strategy.  Keep learning new ways to engage learners.
